These four 5-story dormitory towers include a partial basement, and a 2-story connector pavilion. Each tower provides more than 200 beds for the students, with Potomac containing 430 beds and Chesapeake providing 400+ beds.
The total area for both dorms is 210,000 gross square feet, with each dorm measuring 105,000 square feet. Construction is masonry load bearing with precast planks for the floor system, and brick and stone veneer on the exterior.
Nielsen worked to understand JMU’s needs from the beginning. Nielsen value-engineered the project to bring it within budget and continued the process throughout construction. A high degree of trust between the members.
