Nielsen Builders, Inc., and The Troyer Group Architects teamed up to create this new 68,410- square-foot facility. The 3-story building is wood frame with a combination of brick, insulated synthetic stucco finishes, and sloped shingle roofing. The towers, cupola, canopies and entrance portico are enhanced with royal blue metal roofing, one of Bridgewater’s signature colors. The exterior of the facility is “maintenance free” and includes resident balconies, patios, and insulated vinyl windows.
Interior features include 28 apartment units, full dining and kitchen facilities, and the “Houff Community Center” meeting rooms. One step through the entrance into the “atrium” vestibule reflects the beauty and quality of the design and work effort placed on this project.
“Nielsen has been our partner in the Maple Terrace/Houff Community Center project from the very beginning,” said John Garber, former president of Bridgewater Retirement Community. “Working with planning committees and focus groups to hear what present and future residents, staff, and employees want to see in the new facilities has been an important part of developing shared goals. The importance of planning and managing our resources in a timely fashion to deliver a balance of quality and cost while maximizing the importance of the desires and needs of the retired adult has been critical. This has been the mission of Nielsen throughout the entire planning process.”
