NIELSEN ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD OFFICERS

Harrisonburg, VA - Nielsen Builders, Inc, a general contractor located in the Shenandoah Valley, has a long history of commercial construction throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. For over 100years, the Nielsen organization has taken great pride in creating stunning structures throughout Virginia.  Employing over 80 people, the company generates more than one hundred million dollars of project revenue each year. The company offers a broad range of project delivery systems from program management, construction management, and general contracting to design-build, and consulting services.  Nielsen is pleased to announce the recent promotions of six people in the organization.

 

Daniel Hylton was promoted to Vice President of Estimating.  Mr. Hylton is a 2001graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture.  He was a landscape superintendent in Richmond for 2 years prior to beginning work with Nielsen as an estimator in 2003.  Mr. Hylton was selected as one of the Shenandoah Valley Business Journal’s “10 Under 40” in 2017.  He also earned the Joseph Nielsen Award in 2009.  This award is given to a person who exemplifies the respected qualities of a Nielsen employee through dedication to the company, cooperation with fellow employees, outstanding service to the community, and leadership excellence, as selected by their fellow employees.

 

Jacob Hull was promoted Vice President of Operations.  He graduated from Lynchburg College in 2001with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.  Mr. Hull has worked as an Assistant Project Manager with Nielsen, then became a Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager. He was also selected as one of the Shenandoah Valley Business Journal’s “10 under 40”in 2017.  Some of Jacob’s recent projects include Rockingham County Schools additions and renovations to John Wayland Elementary School, Harrisonburg City Schools Bluestone Elementary School, and the City of Harrisonburg new City Hall.

Pamela Rosen was promoted to Vice President of Finance.  Ms. Rosen began her career in 1994 as an accountant with R.E. Lee and Sons. In 1996, she accepted a position with Nielsen. Throughout her time at Nielsen, Ms. Rosen has served in several capacities, including accounting supervisor, and controller. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from James Madison University and she was also awarded the Joseph Nielsen award by her peers in 2003.

Jonathan Harrison has served in several roles for Nielsen for nine years.  He has served as a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and the Division Director of Nielsen’s subsidiary, Legacy Cabinets & Millwork.  He previously worked for ConMat Group in the role of Executive VP for the Asphalt and Precast Operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, and he attended the MBA program at JMU.  A few of the key projects that he has managed for Nielsen are the Staunton High School additions and renovations, the Ivy Stacks Expansion at the University of Virginia, and anew facility for Lohmann Specialty Coatings in Orange, VA.

Rebekah Kuller was promoted to Sr. Vice President ofFinance.  Ms. Kuller began her work withNielsen in the Fall of 2019.  She movedto the construction industry in 2013 after 4 years as an accountant for thefederal government.  She then worked as aSenior Staff Accountant for Helix Electric, Assistant Controller for BorregoSolar, and Division Controller for Swinerton, all of which were in SanDiego.  She returned to her hometown ofHarrisonburg in 2019 to join Nielsen Builders. Ms. Kuller holds a Master of Accounting from Liberty University, and aBachelor of Business Administration from University of Mary Washington.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and aCertified Construction Industry Financial Professional.  She was recently recognized by theConstruction Financial Management Association as one of their “40 under 40”honorees.  She was chosen out of morethan 115 candidates for this honor.

Jean Hieber was promoted to Vice President of HumanResources.  Ms. Hieber has worked withNielsen for 29 years.  She has served inseveral roles at Nielsen, including Accounts Payable, Benefits Specialist,Human Resources Coordinator, and Human Resources Director.  She attended EMU and earned a BS inManagement and Organizational Development. She holds a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential through theSociety of Human Resources Management, and a Professional in Human Resources(PHR) credential through the Human Resources Certification Institute.  She also received the Joseph Nielsen Awardfrom her peers in 1999.
